The Biodiversity Heritage Library (BHL) is actively engaged in Wikimedia projects and priorities are driven by a dedicated BHL-Wiki Working Group. The working group is primarily focused on converting BHL’s extensive legacy data into 5-star linked open data and expanding global access to biodiversity knowledge. This BHL-Wiki initiative is driven by the urgent need to address global biodiversity challenges, as outlined in the 2023 white paper “Unifying Biodiversity Knowledge to Support Life on a Sustainable Planet.” The BHL community openly encourages collaboration and the use of our data in the Wikimedia ecosystem.
